Introduction

Welcome! I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while, and honestly, the process of setting up this blog has been the most complicated part. Since I have been retired, I have truly enjoyed spending time every morning studying God’s Word and reading books I have been meaning to read for many years. I am hoping to be able to use this space to share some of the things I have been learning over these last few months as well as what I am learning as I dig deep into the book of Ephesians. I will review some of the books that I have been reading also.

One of the things that I love to do is listen to podcasts as I drive. I have learned so much from several of these. Instead of doing a separate blog post, I am going to list those here with a brief description.

The first one is the Bible Recap. The website is www.thebiblerecap.com You can use the plan with the You Version of the Bible App to read through the chronological Bible followed by her recap of the daily reading. Bill and I just finished the Old Testament and are on the Gospels. We started in February, so you don’t have to start January 1. But she does start new every year, so this is a great time to start reading through the Bible if this is something you have wanted to do!

Next is the Alisa Childer’s Podcast. The website is http://www.alisachilders.com I read her book “Another Gospel, A Lifelong Christian Seeks Truth in Response to Progressive Christianity” and that is how I discovered her. She does interviews and is an apologist, and I love her gentle and kind manner. I joined her online book club and I have enjoyed the conversations about both the books and apologetics in general.

I have just recently discovered the Bible Thinker podcast. You can find him at Biblethinker.org. Mike Winger is a Southern California Calvary Chapel pastor and he has a ton of content on his site. I love that you can do a search to find what you need, or you can listen to his various series. Every Friday he has “20 Questions with Pastor Mike” where you can submit your questions online for him to answer. He has series on cults, apologetics and topics such as how to find Jesus in the Old Testament.

Lastly, Stand To Reason with Greg Koukl and #STRask (www.STR.org) are two of my long-time favorites. I have been listening to Greg Koukl on the radio for many years and now I listen to his podcast. He is the main reason I got interested in apologetics.

I hope you will join me on this journey as I dig deep into Ephesians and share my thoughts on the things I am reading. Again, welcome!

I Peter 3:15   But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect…

  1. Kim! I’m so glad you’re doing this. When I did this years ago, I loved it. I regularly think about doing it again. Seeing your post is inspiring. I’ll be following you in your journey. I also am listening fairly regularly to Alisa’s podcast and love her style! I’m a Greg Koukl fan, too. As you know, my life is pretty full these days. But that passion for studying and writing doesn’t go away. So I’ll be living that life vicariously through you, my friend! I love watching you embrace this season of your life!! Grace be with you!
